Guh! I am finished. I did manage to finish volume 10. I did manage to stay up for 24 hours. I did manage to finish this read-a-thon! And now, sleep. Lots and lots of blessed sleep! Thanks so much to the cheerleaders and commentors that cheered me on for this read-a-thon. I appreciate your kind words so, so, so much. You guys are all awesome! Thank you!

I might as well push to the end now, as best I can. I am almost there! Made some progress on volume 10. I might be able to finish it within the next hour. Who knows? I’m tired, I’m a little burnt out on Fullmetal Alchemist and just reading in general. And, I definitely am burnt out on the computer! After this I am going to sleep and tomorrow I am going to spend the whole day cleaning and doing yard work and not even thinking about the computer or books!

Wrap-Up Questions
The ones where I got the least done and so worried I would not get back into the swing of things, the two hours I took for dinner.
If you are at all into fairy tales I would recommend these YA fairy tale retellings:
Ice by Sarah Beth Durst
Just Ella by Margaret Peterson Haddix
Goose Chase by Patrice Kindl
I already gave them in my mid-way point wrap-up.
I like how you linked the winners for the mini-challenges on the main site, that way we don’t have to keep fifty million tabs open to keep track of what’s going on. It’s all in one place.
Ten, good chance of finishing number eleven soon.
Fullmetal Alchemist Volumes 1-9 by Hiromu Arakawa
A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
And that didn’t inspire readers whip lash at all! No siree! It so did.
Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 4 – it made me cry.
Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 6 – it stayed unchanged from the anime to the manga. I thought it was a little cruel and unnecessary, and I was bored with reading that particular plot over again.
N/A
I still want to be a reader, just do it differently next time. Fewer updates, but more food!

I am barely keeping my eyes open, I’m not sure if I will make it after all. No more laying down on the loveseat! I did manage to finish volume 9 though, so yay on that! Seriously though, I’m dragging… I’m so close… I want to finish…

The first wants us to write about a cliffhanger in the current book we are reading. I’m going to do one better and just post the page. Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa opens on this scene and then cuts away immediately after that last frame and doesn’t finish fleshing out that scene for five more volumes. So you start out by going OMG WTF kind of alchemy is that?! And, then don’t get your question answered for a long time. But so much else is filled in you stay along for the ride anyway!
Clicky to pop it big!
The next challenge wants us to answer some questions on how the read-a-thon has worked out for us so far.
For the most part, yes! But, really I was able to do so much, much better after everyone went to bed.
In the chair in my office, with my legs up on my desk. Not as comfortable as it used to be, I think I’m actually wearing the padding on my chair thin because I tend to sit and read like that a lot.
Just to do some quick grocery shopping in the morning and then to inspect the yard work being done by my husband. I didn’t know he could do such things without me there helping. Then again, what am I supposed to make of my husband choosing yard work over reading a book?

I’m feeling a lot better now, I think I will be able to pull through, it’s just three more hours now. I made a slight push through volume 9, but I ended up taking a longer than anticipated break doing yoga for the mini-challenge. It was a lot of fun! Not only that but my back cracked a million times and I feel a lot better to boot. I really need to get in to doing yoga more often. I’m really pathetically weak.

Write about our most hated characters.
That would have to be Wickham and Lydia from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. They are just so, so… Thoughtless! Stupid! Vapid! Conniving! Idiots! I mean, here we have a guy who is a liar and a cheat, a male slut and a gambler who just wants to party hardy. Then there’s the girl, young and headstrong and a ridiculous flirt and completely ignorant about everything.
He steals her away on an “elopement” for absolutely no reason than to ruin her. She has no money or connection, she had no title, there was no reason for him to marry (until Darcy provided some $$$) and so it was all just for a cheap thrill and then dump this random girl somewhere.
And then! She is too stupid to get the insult! She comes home lording it over everyone that she has this great husband and this great catch and she just doesn’t get it. Then she goes and prances around the house and puts on airs and puts herself in front of her elder sisters. It was insanely aggravating.
I sometimes wonder about teenagers depicted in fiction, not to mention the fiction written for them because that’s what they allegedly want to read. Teens are not that stupid. Are they?

Oh my, I just finished Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 8. The part where the manga went one way and the anime went another. She talk about working on the anime (in manga format of course) in the back and it was pretty interesting. I’m working on slurping down my tea, hopefully it will have an affect soon. I’m feeling a little less weighted already, but I didn’t get much sleep last night (I didn’t go to bed until after midnight, what was I thinking?) so this might not work out after all, we’ll see.
